This year, the Campbell County School District partnered with TradesNKY to provide an engaging learning experience for their 6th-grade students. Through the “Intro to Construction Technology” course, part of TradesNKY’s Explorations curriculum, middle school students are introduced to various skilled trades and related career paths.
The 6th grade elective class features “exploration days” and project-based learning activities, allowing students to collaborate with experts from different construction industries and related skilled trades careers. The curriculum enables students to not only see and touch different tools and equipment but also learn how to use them effectively.
Recently, Bray Construction Services, one of TradesNKY’s charter sponsors, introduced the class to the diesel mechanic career. Expert diesel mechanics worked closely with students, demonstrating the use of tools and equipment specific to their trade. This hands-on experience provides valuable insights into the diesel mechanic profession for the participating students.
